Sustainable management, materials recovery and protection of the environment are all an integral part of our activities. We take responsibility for our actions and not only progress technical development but also seek to continuously improve our own environmental performance. We continue to minimise our impact on the environment by selecting the use of raw materials, transport and by careful operation of our manufacturing processes. We have been a leader in the development of recycling methods and continue to give environmental support to Local Authorities in recycling used paper.
The company is ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 registered for our quality and environmental systems and we publish an annual Safety, Health & Environment Report which has been widely circulated in the UK and overseas since 1994. Each year we set environmental objectives for our business and these are measured and reported to our stakeholders.
The company recognises its responsibility to wider stakeholders, customers, suppliers, neighbours, industry and other associated people. We continue to be involved in the local business community, the development of recycling and support for the paper industry.
Twelve internal auditors conduct annual Environmental audits in all areas of the mill. The audit frequency for any area is determined by risk assessments and a review of past audit results. Employees interested in learning the skills of an environmental auditor have the opportunity to participate in internal auditor’s training.
