Aylesford Newsprint maintains a strong safety culture. The importance of safety is never undervalued or taken for granted and our aim is to ensure that all employees, contractors and visitors to the mill return safely to their homes and families each night.
Technical Service
Customer technical service is integral to Aylesford Newsprint. Our technical team have a combined experience of working within the print and paper industry and a knowledgebase that enables them to respond to customers' questions and to offer advice from routine technical information to more specialised assistance in problem solving, or for the best use of our products.
We operate a 24–hour technical hotline that is always available to assist with any problems.

From raw material to delivered, finished product, all production and delivery aspects are monitored from an environmental perspective.

- Our mill uses 60% less energy per tonne than producing newsprint from virgin fibre.

- Our process residues are combusted in a purpose designed boiler fitted with modern emission controls, producing up to 30% of the mill's thermal energy requirement.
- Our secondary product can be used in aggregates, cement replacement, compost and animal bedding.
- We are using dual purpose vehicles to improve the overall efficiency and environmental effects of our transport system.
Key Information
- Paper Machine 13 (PM13)—90 metres long, 5.4 metres wide and operating at 900 metres per minute. Capacity 100,000 tonnes per annum.
- Paper Machine 14 (PM14)—120 metres long, 10 metres wide and operating at 1650 metres per minute. Capacity 300,000 tonnes per annum.
- Over 300 people employed on site.
- Gas powered combined heat and power plant (owned by Npower Cogen, part of the RWE Group) situated on mill land and operated by Aylesford Newsprint employees.
- De–inking and pulping plant 500,000 tonnes per annum capacity of recovered waste fibre.
- Biological water treatment plant.
